Macquarie Home Loans
Macquarie Bank has made a name for itself in the banking sector as a trustworthy and security-driven organisation. In 2019, the bank entered the online Home Loans market with a digital refinance application to compete with other online lenders.
Upon joining in 2021, the refinance journey and home loans product teams were in their early stages. My role was to build and maintain a more formalised product-specific design system and to help reevaluate the team's use of interface design to solve problems.
Notable milestones included migrating and reconstructing the Home Loans component library in Figma, designing and integrating a new purchase journey, establishing firmer spacing rules, introducing a formalised component QA process in JIRA, and creating more effective prototyping methods. In addition, the team worked on new features, ranging from smaller component rebuilds to full top-of-funnel lead capturing flows. The process involved working with multiple stakeholders in the organisation and balancing complex requirements with design aesthetic, allowing for exploration of solutions at a broader conceptual level before refining designs to meet timelines.
